2024 NEW YORK CITY
In 1985 Martin Scorcese released a film called After Hours starring Rosanna Arquette (Macey) and Griffin Dunne (Paul). It was a farcical Kafkaesque comedy about a ‘could-have-been-love’ between Paul and Macey. It all gets derailed early in the piece by Macey’s overdose and what follows is a tortuous series of events besetting Paul as the night unfolds into the early hours. Droll plot aside, one can’t help but think the story is about two things - Firstly, Paul’s suit, which acts as a constant through the film much like an ode to Carey Grant’s suit in North by North West, in this case becoming increasingly bedraggled by the city over the course of the night.
Secondly, it is about Manhattan’s Soho at the time and all its narcotic lunacy.
Our latest shoot featuring Roberta Pecoraro is shot by Adrian Mesko in the very same streets of Soho. Today you’re less likely to get stabbed, 2500sqm lofts aren’t inhabited by struggling sculptors, you walk with your coffee rather than sit down for it, and you regrettably take Ubers more than cabs and they are probably Muskmobiles, ewww. This shoot is our little vigil to Macey and her beautiful and fleeting wardrobe in the film and just another of the seven hundred billion photographs taken by influencers in Soho in the last few weeks.
