Our Workshops

The P Johnson journey started back in 2009 with a simple goal, to help men dress better by providing them with the best clothing from around the world. Clothing that not only fits but is a joy to wear.

We had an idea of the type of tailoring we wanted to offer; soft, flattering, beautiful and with a focus on value, but saw that that type of product did not exist. Everything was either too stiff, too heavy or unflattering. In essence we believed that no one was making tailored clothing that met the needs of today. So the journey began.

In the beginning we looked everywhere, working with makers from all over the globe (the UK, Poland, Germany, France, China, Japan, the Netherlands and Italy) to make this dream a reality. The experience we have earned over the years has enabled us to focus our attention on the best possible makers for each specific product, always with the focus on quality and value.

Sartoria Carrara

From our main P Johnson line we wanted to be able to offer our clients the best of what is available in Italy. In order to get there we saw the need to invest in our own production base. So around four years ago we invested into a small workshop in Tuscany that we had been previously working with to create something new, a place that we could experiment and learn, and a maker that could create what we see as our ideal suit. The result is Sartoria Carrara.

Sartoria Carrara is our atelier based in the marble forged landscape of the Apuane alps of North-West Tuscany. The region is unique in its deep tailoring history, and here our local artisan tailors create our suits using beautiful handwork and preserving the skills and traditional practices that are so essential to a suit’s beauty.

When we started this project the workshop employed twelve people making mainly for small Italian and London based tailors. Today we employ over 60 people making some of the world’s best tailored clothing.

P Johnson Pronto

Pronto is our tailoring line developed for our clients working with a shorter time frame. Our goal was to take our highly developed old world techniques from our Tuscan atelier and inject them into a production with the most sophisticated new world practices. These combined construction benefits translate to a shorter turnaround time and a lower price, with uncompromised quality. Our Pronto workshop is located just south of Shanghai.
