In the beginning we looked everywhere, working with makers from all over the globe (the UK, Poland, Germany, France, China, Japan, the Netherlands and Italy). The experience we have earned over the years has enabled us to focus our attention on the best possible makers for each product type, always with an eye for quality and value.

SARTORIA CARRARA

For our main P Johnson line we wanted to offer our clients the best of what is available in Italy. In order to get there we saw the need to commit to our very own production base. So around four years ago we invested in a small workshop in Tuscany that we had previously worked with. Here we could create something new, experiment and learn, and ultimately create what we see as our ideal suit. The result is Sartoria Carrara.

Sartoria Carrara is based in the marble forged landscape of the Apuane Alps (North-West Tuscany). The region is unique in its deep tailoring history, and here our local artisan tailors create our suits using beautiful handwork, preserving the skills and traditional practices that are so essential to a suit’s personality and beauty.

When we started this project the workshop employed twelve people making mainly for small Italian and London based tailors. Today we employ over 60 people making some of the world’s best tailored clothing.

Pronto is our tailoring line developed for clients working with a shorter time frame. Our goal was to take our highly developed old world techniques from Sartoria Carrara and inject them into a production with the most sophisticated new world practices. These combined construction benefits translate to a shorter turnaround time and lower prices, with uncompromised quality. Our Pronto workshop is located just south of Shanghai. 

Our beautiful range of leisure and outerwear are also made at our Pronto workshop, drawing on sophisticated construction from a sartorial origin rather than a factory-like process.
