Super Dupioni

Our favourite slubby, ancient silk weave is back. The dupioni pure silk plain weave is central to our language of beauty, purity and substance in clothing. We have revisited it many times now in subtle modulations, each striking a slightly different chord. One thing that is clear to us is that no other fabric really plays the role quite as well as dupioni - versatility, freshness, dynamics, and just a little bit of stand. Really it is no wonder that it has been used for the last 6500 years.

In this release we have made full outfitting even better resourced, whether it be resort, evening or daily wear. We have eight core P Johnson pieces mixed across navy, taupe, black, chocolate and a cool, fresh beige.

In uppers we have the indefatigable Bodice Top with its subtle sculpting, the very essential Classic Shirt, the vintage feeling Boatneck Top and the very cool Montana Baseball Shirt with its cruisy raglan sleeve. In lowers we have the powerful Kahlo skirt, the double pleated Perriand trouser and the sleeker flat front wide leg Sofia. At full length we have a single beautiful dress, the Audrey. Only in taupe, the Audrey has a short sleeve and hand-whipstitch detail towards the base.

Maybe one day, in another 6500 years, when we share Earth with tall, pale, skinny aliens, humans will still be wearing dupioni silk then, and if they dig one of us up they will find us wearing dupioni too, and maybe even the aliens will be wearing dupioni? They’re always naked in the movies so maybe not, they don’t seem to have bits, but the lady aliens still seem to have boobs for some reason? Weird huh.
